Island Stairlifts fit all stairlifts to the stairs and NOT your wall. Straight stairlifts start from step 1 (bottom step) and stop automatically at the top step. In some cases there can be a door or intrusion near the bottom step, in these circumstances it is advisable to fit an automatic folding hinge. This will eliminate the end of the rail becoming hazardous.
If your stairs have 1-2 steps leading off at the top, then a false step or step infill is an advisable option. This will leave no remaining steps to struggle with and can be covered in either non-slip rubber matting or matching carpet in cases where customers have some left over or in storage.
For stairs with 2-3 steps leading off at the top, a bridging platform is available. This is sometimes an alternative option to a curved stairlift, depending on staircase configuration. Contact us for more information.
For people who suffer with back pain, the option of a powered swivel seat is available. A simple motor is mounted under the seat enabling the chair to swivel automatically once you have arrived at the top of the stairs.
Every new stairlift we supply have a backrest, fold away arms, seat and footrest, a padded swivel seat with harness and in some cases, the choice of push button controls or a joystick. Infra-red remote controls come standard with all battery lifts for assisted or multiple users. Other options include:
Heavy duty motors, wider seats, child seats, stand & perch seats.
